The Importance of the Kent Salon Bristle

April 15, 2020

The right brush for your client’s hair can work wonders, as well improving its general health.

Other than the primary function of brushing or styling hair, brushing also cleans and massages the scalp and stimulates the release of the beneficial oil sebum. Here’s how it works:

  • Sebum is released by the sebaceous gland at the base of the hair follicle as a result of the gentle hair tugging action caused by brushing.
  • Brushing the hair cleans the hair shaft, follicle and scalp by removing trapped dirt, dust and oils.
  • Brushing also distributes the sebum, coating, lubricating and protecting the hair shaft resulting in a healthy sheen and soft flexible hair.

The natural bristles in Kent Salon’s brushes are especially good at maintaining great hair condition. Hand trimmed, each individual bristle is a slightly different length creating an uneven surface to the brush which enables the bristles to penetrate the hair perfectly and reach deep down to the scalp.

Each natural bristle is scaly in texture so it is an extremely effective material for cleaning the hair shaft, follicle and scalp, and distributing sebum along the hair shaft.  The action of the bristle smooths the hair so they lie in the same direction leaving the finished hair shiny and silky looking.

It is important to find the right brush in a mix of strengths and bristle alignments to suit your client’s hair.

Using a brush like Kent Salon’s Curved Vent styling brush KS02 makes blow drying and straightening long hair a breeze without pulling the hair. With its moulded head featuring 50 flexible pins in a curved and vented chassis, this is the only brush of its type in the world.

It’s pièce de résistance however comes from the addition of the ten rows of natural bristle to smooth, clean and add shine making it ideal for blow-drying, volumising and grooming and in turn creating that glossy just stepped out of the salon look.
