The Hair and Barber Council and delegates from other industry organisations, recently joined a virtual meeting with the Small Business Minister, Paul Scully MP, as an introduction to him on the concerns and the plight of our sector resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic.
It was an extremely open and productive meeting where we gave the Minister the hard facts about the effect the virus has had upon our industry and the lack of any specific financial support from Government.
The Minister was very supportive of our position and committed to taking the issues back to the Treasury and other senior Ministers who are responsible for the easing of the current lockdown and how we should be allowed to open as soon as possible given the high standards of health, safety and hygiene that our sector has been proven to have….this the Minister agreed with overwhelmingly!
He also asked that we have a second meeting in the next month or so where he would be able to update us further following the Prime Ministers ‘road map out of lockdown’ statement to the public later today.
Over to you Minister?
