Wella Professionals UK & Ireland TrendVision Award 2021 photographic winners announced

June 16, 2021

The Wella Professionals TrendVision Award has become one of the most iconic hair competitions in the hairdressing calendar, and for 2021, the format is more exciting than ever.

For the first time ever, winners of the photographic stage of the competition were celebrated in an incredible virtual event. The announcements ran over three days and were combined with an inspirational line up of model presentations, where Wella artists demonstrated their interpretation of TrendVision categories using the Wella colour portfolio.

The virtual events featured behind the scenes inspiration from the TrendVision Award 2020 Winners Collection Shoot, and exclusive tips from judges and past winners. There was also some truly exciting and innovative bite-sized content, all of which is exclusive and delivered by hairdressing icons Charlie Taylor, Robert Eaton, HOB Academy’s Jake Unger and Warren Boodaghian, James Earnshaw and Michelle Thompson. Specifically for students, the virtual event also included content from education experts Maxine McArthur and Darren Waterfall from MW Education.

The recordings of the Virtual Events are now available for viewing on www.education.wella.com. The full length step-by-step creative presentations by  Wella Artists will be released in July. Stay tuned  – this handy educational content showcases creative use of the Wella colour portfolio and timeless techniques. Download the Education Book at www.wella.com/educationbook and call your nearest Wella Studio to book your place for hands-on experience with these Wella Artists and a burst of fresh inspiration.

The calibre of entries this year has been highly impressive, with exceptional creative talent showcased in the winning entries. All photographic winners can be viewed at www.wella.co.uk/trendvision.

The winners of the 6 competition categories will now compete in the next stage of the competition: the UK & Ireland Digital Semi-Finals. This too is an online process, which is supported by a full briefing session hosted by Wella Educators, that will deliver top tips for video editing and filming.

TrendVision 2021 has been adapted to ensure the restrictions of Covid-19 have been considered, and with college students already on a restricted time scale, the winners from the XPOSURE photographic two categories, will not need to compete in the semi-finals and instead will go straight through to the UK and Ireland Final in October.

What’s next? There will be Digital Semi-Finals, with plans for a live final in October 2021 (Covid permitting). Colour Artist, Craft Artist, Colour Specialist and Xposure will compete live, Editorial Look, Style Master and Natural Texture Artist will submit their final entry digitally. However, a winner and runner up for each category will be announced at the live final. Tickets for the Final, which will include shows from Wella Artists and ghd, will go on sale later in the year.
