Tilted Tint | Marlon Hawkins

October 06, 2023

Playing with tones and styling to achieve different outcomes is not only a brilliant way of keeping clients excited with their colour, but it also provides the perfect opportunity for you to be as creative or commercial as you want. With this in mind, Brooks & Brooks artistic director, Marlon Hawkins, has created ‘Tilted Tint’ – a two-tone colour concept for the coming season…

“When creating a new look, I like to identify the direction that the client’s hair naturally grows in and figure out how much colour to use on the hair by taking into consideration its density and texture. I find this gives a bespoke, individual touch, ultimately bringing a playful and exciting approach to a global colour.” – Marlon Hawkins

1 Cover the hair in L’Oréal Professionnel Metal Detox Spray, before finding its natural sectioning pattern.

2 Using the L’Oréal Professionnel Majirel colour range, apply the lighter colour 8.43 30g, L.22 30g with 25vl Luo Color Developer. For the darker colour sections, use 6.46 58g, 6.60 2g with 15vl Luo Color Developer.

3 Leave the colour to develop for 35 minutes.

4 Rinse using L’Oreal Professionnel Metal Detox Anti-Metal Cleansing Cream Professional Shampoo for optimum colour results.

5 Next, style the hair using L’Oréal Professionnel Techni.ART Pli spray, forming a flat ‘S’ wave.

Finally, use Techni.ART Ring Light Shine Spray to finish off the look.
