Katy says: “Before we book any appointments, we start with a consultation. We request that any bride-to-be brings along multiple inspiration pictures so there’s a really clear understanding from the word “go” of what they’re looking to achieve!”
It’s all in the trial:
It goes without saying that a trial is essential – Katy recommends scheduling this for four weeks before the big day. She also would ensure the makeup trial is on the same day, this allows you to get a better idea of the overall look and vibe. During the trial, it’s important to see the bride’s hair texture in person and test how it will hold certain styling options throughout the day. Katy says: “At this stage, we would also discuss extensions for any additional length or thickness. Remember, it’s not always about long hair – some of the best up-dos or shorter lengths include extensions.”
Take lots of pictures
Katy says: “In the trial session we always take lots of pictures. We usually recommend that the hairstyle is slightly ‘bigger’ than something they’d normally go for, this is to compensate for how it’ll photograph – hair usually photographs very flat! This can be achieved with hair extensions as well as adding in invisible padding to create the desired effect.”
Prep, prep, prep:
When it comes to creating the look on the big day, prepping the hair properly, as well as setting it afterwards, is a must! Using professional quality haircare and styling products are non-negotiable.
