Schwarzkopf Professional Donate Hair Care Products to Hospitals in the UK and Ireland

May 28, 2020

The last couple have months have been unprecedented, overwhelming and a little scary at times. The positive silver lining has been the overall community spirit and the generosity to those in need, proving that we are, in fact, all in this together.

As a contribution to help lift the morale of those in the NHS who are helping in every way to overcome this virus, Schwarzkopf Professional donated more than 18,000 units of hair care products.

Back at the beginning of April, the UK Beauty Care Professional team arranged donations of Schwarzkopf Professional products to four NHS hospitals in the UK and Ireland.  University Hospital Coventry, Princess Royal Hospital Farnborough, Kings College Hospital London and St James Hospital Dublin all received thousands of hair care products as a small thank you for their incredible efforts.

Kings College London are helping to support staff and patients over two locations, with over 500 staff in ICU alone. Melissa Worman, Head of Communications at Kings College Hospital Charity, said: We are so humbled by all the support we’ve received for our hospitals and our incredible NHS staff.  It’s an undeniably challenging time for the NHS. Supporting staff has always been at the heart of what we do as a charity, and it’s our privilege now more than ever to be doing so through our Hospital Heroes Appeal.

“Donations to the appeal are helping us fund wellbeing hubs for staff, providing them with a much-needed non-clinical space to take a break, decompress, and support each other. Care packages, which Schwarzkopf Professional have kindly contributed to, are providing staff with toiletries, shaving kits, snacks, changes of clothes, and other basic essentials they may not otherwise be able to access throughout long shifts. Messages of support that we receive are also making a world of difference in helping to support our NHS staff – keeping team spirit alive, and positivity high.”

In Dublin, St. James Hospital have been working around the clock to support both their patients and their staff. The products donated by Schwarzkopf Professional have been used in care packages and gift bags. These care packages have not only been distributed to the frontline doctors and nurses, but also to catering and housekeeping staff, all of whom are playing their part as frontline support.

Annabelle Feetenby, Community and Events Fundraiser at University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire, added, “Thank you again for the donation, it is most kind and welcomed. The items were shared out amongst well-being areas and as toiletries in our Superhero Care Packages, and they certainly made for a great addition.”

All NHS hospital charities are working incredibly hard to support their staff during these difficult and overwhelming times – although we are past the peak, the fight on the front line is still very much going strong. Schwarzkopf Professional would like to thank each an every one of the key workers who are working around the clock to protect and save lives.
