Romantic Hairstyles to Turn Heads this Valentine’s

Wanting to make sure their hair is styled to perfection, now is the time that many clients will be visiting the salon in preparation for their Valentine’s Day date nights. This week, we caught up with Alterna Ambassador, Sabrina Dijkman, to find out which romantic hairstyling looks will be sure to turn heads this Valentine’s…

The braided bun is a great hairstyle for Valentine’s, particularly for those who want to amplify a classic style for a special occasion. Paired with heaps of volume, this look screams effortless glamour.

To create this look:

1. For both added volume and heat protection, I like to use the Caviar Anti-Aging Multiplying Volume Styling Mist before blow-drying. Once the hair is dry, I mist through some dry shampoo like My Hair. My Canvas. Another Day Dry Shampoo throughout the hair to provide some extra grit.
2. I then backcomb a small section of the hair at the crown, before brushing over for a smooth finish ready to create my braid. For further softness, I leave some sections of hair out around the face, gently tousling to add texture whilst framing the face.
3. When making your bun, start by creating a ponytail at the back of the head and securing this into place. Next, apply some Caviar Anti-Aging Replenishing Moisture CC Cream through the sections before creating three braids and pinning these into place to make your desired shape. Gently pull out some sections of the braid as you go, this will give the bun added texture and volume for a more effortless finish.
4. Finally, finish with a delicate bow or diamante clip to give this look a further romantic feel.

To create this look:

1. When it comes to creating this look, haircare and prep are key. I always like to begin by washing the hair with a shampoo and conditioner like the Caviar Anti-Aging Replenishing Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner. This injects lots of moisture back into the hair to ensure it looks as smooth and shiny as possible.
2. To prep the hair and provide heat protection, I then use the Caviar Anti-Aging Replenishing Moisture CC Cream, which provides a flawless appearance. I then blow-dry before going in with my heated styling irons to gently tousle the hair, working in small sections to create beautiful ‘s’ shaped waves.
3. Once you have finished waving the hair, take a large-tooth comb and gently brush through in sections to break up the waves and give them a soft, undone appearance. Finish by misting the waves with Caviar Anti-Aging Smoothing Anti-Frizz Dry Oil Mist to get rid of any frizz and flyaways.

To create this look:

1. I always like to start by misting through Caviar Anti-Aging Professional Styling Perfect Texture Spray to build volume and texture in the hair before creating the updo. This will also help to give the style hold.
2. I then create a high ponytail at the back of the head, leaving out some sections of hair around the face, before twisting the hair up towards the head. I leave the end of the ponytail out and pin the twisted sections onto the head. You can then bring the left-out section back down beside the twisted section, pinning the hair into place to create your desired messy bun shape.
3. Finish by misting through a lightweight hairspray through the hair for added shine and hold. One of my favourites for this is the My Hair. My Canvas. City Slay Shielding Hairspray.
