Professional hair care brand, Neäl & Wølf and salon hair care product distributor, Salon Promotions Ltd, have partnered with Green Salon Collective in support of an initiative to make the salon and hairdressing industry more sustainable.
Green Salon Collective is the original authority on salon sustainability in the UK and Ireland and provides an exclusive recycling scheme to salons. It offers a sustainable service to recycle the traditionally impossible to recycle items, such as hair and foil, as well as plastic and PPE.
As part of the new relationship, Neäl & Wølf and Salon Promotions Ltd will be working closely with Green Salon Collective to bring a greener future to over 7,000 of their partnering salon customers, further enhancing their commitment to sustainability in their businesses and beyond.
In just the first 6 months of launching (July-December 2020), Green Salon Collective recovered over 400 kilograms of hair which will now be used towards cleaning waterways and gardening composting projects. They also recovered and recycled over 2.3 tonnes of used foil and colour tubes and over 230 litres of leftover colour and bleach.
Salons can also become Green Salon Collective accredited through the exclusive scheme. Working with independent sustainability experts, Green Salon Collective partnered with The Liminality, a business who supports organisations over the threshold and through the door to true sustainability – the first accreditation of its type within the hairdressing industry.
Neäl & Wølf and Salon Promotions Ltd are also offering their stockists a 15% discount when setting up their own Green Salon Collective partnership.
Neil Capstick, Owner and Founder of Neäl & Wølf and Salon Promotions, says “We are fully committed to a sustainable future and are constantly sourcing new ways to become greener.
I believe this new partnership with Green Salon Collective will help to educate salons on becoming more sustainably ethical and is a great step forward to achieving industry-wide sustainability – we hope our stockists get on board too!”
Fry Taylor, Co-Founder of Green Salon Collective, adds “This new partnership is a great move in helping salons to become more sustainable and ethical. As a collective, working with other brands like Neäl & Wølf and Salon Promotions, is a really important collaboration if we are to truly make a difference in our industry. The ethos behind Neäl & Wølf and Salon Promotions runs in parallel with many of the Green Salon Collective standards, so given that we have many like-minded clients, it’s a great match for all of us.”
