HOLDING THE LINE AGAINST ANIMAL TESTING

Professional haircare specialist, Neäl & Wølf, is proud to announce it is now Leaping Bunny approved by Cruelty Free International, the leading organisation working to end animal testing. As only the second professional colour brand to achieve this approval, the accreditation confirms that its entire product portfolio is not, and has never been, tested on animals.

Since it began, Neäl & Wølf products have been tested in salons by haircare professionals. Undergoing rigorous assessments by industry experts, the brand has meticulously checked over 450 ingredients and raw materials across all of its product lines.

All Neäl & Wølf products are sulphate free, paraben free, TEA free and DEA free, with a selection of vegan-friendly products including their full professional colour range. Moving forward, the brand is also working to bring new and improved packaging made from a minimum of 35% PCR Plastic. Find out more here

MAKING WAVES FOR WORLD OCEANS DAY

In celebration of World Oceans Day on 8th June, Green Salon Collective (GSC) is highlighting its members’ efforts in supporting the Water Fund through their hair and metal recycling. By recycling through GSC, salons are not only diverting tonnes of materials from landfills, but actively contributing to organisations that tackle issues like plastic pollution, oil spills and habitat restoration.

“Our oceans are a vital part of the planet’s ecosystem, and it’s our responsibility to preserve them,” says Fry Taylor, Co-Founder of Green Salon Collective. “Through the Water Fund, we can directly support the incredible work being done to restore the health of rivers, lakes and seas.”

The brand is also encouraging its sustainable- minded members to adopt water-saving practices within their salons. Tips include:

Using shower heads like Ecoheads to reduce water consumption.

Incorporating a microplastic catcher or filter when washing salon towels and capes that are made from synthetic fibres.

Recommending retail products like dry shampoos to help clients reduce water usage at home.

Avoiding advising clients to shampoo twice as this wastes both water and energy, as well as not always being the best for hair health.

On this World Oceans Day, Green Salon Collective calls on all hairdressing businesses – salons, barbers, freelancers, colleges – to evaluate their environmental impact and join the movement towards a bluer, more sustainable future.

STANDING UP TO PLASTIC POLLUTION

Introducing Inner Joi, a brand-new range of healthy-hair products from Joico, developed with both hair and the environment in mind. Featuring animal test-free, vegan, PETA-approved formulas, and made with 86-98% naturally- derived ingredients, the new range works to deliver a professional performance and transformative results, all whilst giving back to the communities in need.

Helping to also fight ocean plastic, all Inner Joi retail-sized shampoos and conditioners are bottled in 95% recovered and recycled Social Plastic. With the help of Plastic Bank, who steward the collection of ocean-bound plastic and empower collection communities to thrive, the recycled plastic is reborn as Social Plastic feedstock and used in the production of products and packaging – thus helping to create new life for old plastic.
