ghd launches hunt for Style Squad 2022

August 19, 2021

ghd has launched its highly anticipated hunt for the Style Squad 2022.

A selection of the most exciting emerging names in hairdressing will be chosen to join the team of ghd educators, ambassadors and guest artists on a year-long mentoring programme, participating in key events and honing their styling and presentation skills.

The audition process is open to anyone currently training or with under two years hairdressing experience and is a two-step process, kicking off with a social media entry. To take part, simply:

  • Create a look inspired by the hair you love
  • Upload a still image of your final look
  • Upload a short video (up to one minute long) showing how you created the look, showcasing technique and dressing out using ghd tools.
  • On Instagram Tag @ghdhairpro and using the hashtag #ghdstylesquad2022

*please ensure your profile is set to ‘public’ so that we can see your entries*

Entry closes on 1st September 2021 and those shortlisted will be invited to stage two, the studio auditions, which take place in London on 15th and 16th September. Prior to audition, finalists will be asked to create a mood board based on a designer that inspires them. On the day, they will have a 1-hour time slot to create a look on a model or doll’s head in a style inspired by their chosen designer, using the ghd product range. This will be followed by a five-minute presentation, explaining the inspiration, mood board and final look to the panel of ghd judges.

The ghd Style Squad is one of hairdressing’s most exciting initiatives, designed to spot and nurture the industry stars of the future. Providing a wealth of opportunities – from up-close, hands-on training with world-renowned artists, to industry exposure, session and platform work – a place on the Style Squad can be career-changing.

Janine Jennings, ghd Head of Education UK and ROI, says: ‘The ghd Style Squad is an amazing opportunity for anyone looking to make the next step in their career. You will get to meet and work with your hairdressing icons, be a crucial player in the hottest events throughout the year and level up your skillset. I’d encourage anyone serious about a future in hairdressing to apply for a place – it really could change your life.
