ClubStar take on London Fashion Week

March 02, 2020

The Fellowship for British Hairdressing’s ClubStar Art Team got to work backstage at London Fashion Week.

The ClubStar Art Team got their year off to an exciting start, with the opportunity to work backstage at London Fashion Week. Project Leader, Karoliina Saunders, arranged for the team to assist lead stylist, Sophie Springett from TONI&GUY, at the Ones To Watch show.

The show, sponsored by Label.M, featured the work of three emerging designers –   Manon Planche, Saint Ego and Young n Sang – each with their own hair look.

Working alongside Sophie and the Label.M team, the ClubStar members got to help create looks for both male and female models. Not only did they learn essential session styling skills, but also the importance of teamwork, backstage etiquette and responding to a brief.

Team member Sam Arnold says: “My dream of working at London Fashion Week has become a reality. It was everything I could dream and more – I’m so grateful for the opportunity.” Jordy Barlow agrees, adding: “I’ve done backstage work for numerous industry hair shows but this was my first time at a fashion week. I was so nervous beforehand, but it was really interesting to see how it all comes together and the Label.M session team couldn’t have been any more welcoming. The look I worked on – for Manon Plache – was an undone, natural texture. I find a lot of my clients want that look, rather than blow-dried and salon-fresh, so it’s definitely something I’ll be taking back to the salon now too!”

Team Leader Karoliina Saunders says: “Everyone in the team was super excited about the opportunity, especially when they got to see their work on the catwalk at fashion’s most prestigious event. We cannot thank Label.M and especially Cos Sakkas enough for making this amazing experience happen and allowing us to join the session team.”
