If colour is your passion and your creativity isn’t satisfied by salon work alone, entering awards could be a great boost and a way to further your career. Becoming a finalist and possibly even winning is a great way to fly the flag for your salon and become the colour destination in your local area. And it could give you the platform you’ve been looking for to be recognised for your creations within the hair industry and beyond. Here we’ve listed five competitions with colour categories which are still open for submission*. Good luck!
Global Creative Awards
Goldwell has reshaped its ColorZoom Challenge to make way for the Global Creative Awards. There are so many categories for you to choose from, including New Talent Colorist, Creative Colorist and Editorial Colorist so you can express your vision in any way you like using Goldwell products. This is a photographic entry competition and entries must be submitted between 1st May and 31st May. National winners will be announced in July who will then move onto the live contest at the KAO Salon Global Experience in Amsterdam. Everything you need to know is here.
TrendVision Award 2020
Wella Professionals’s TrendVision Award 2020 offers six amazing categories for hairdressers to showcase their skills and two of those are just for your colour creations. The Colour Artist category looks for beautiful and salon relevant hair with a focus on colour while the Colour Specialist category wants beautiful and natural looking balayage. Enter via Instagram by posting your final look image with the appropriate hashtag by 9th April. All the information you need is here.
Color Outside The Lines
Paul Mitchell invites you to colour outside the lines and showcase you hair colouring skills. Choose your category: Best Creative Colour for creative or avant-garde looks, or Best in Blonding for dramatic tranformations that demonstrate your lightening skills. Enter via Instagram before 1st April using the category hashtag and you could win two tickets to the Paul Mitchell’s The Gathering in Las Vegas! All the information you need is here.
Colour World Genius Awards
Are you a Colour Genius? The Colour Genius Awards has a huge seven categories judged by an eminent panel of colourists looking to reward exceptional creative talent like yours. The categories include colour correction, cretive colour,men’s colour and more. Open to all colourists in the UK, each category is brand neutral so it’s totally up to you which products you’d like to us. The entry deadline is 31st March and everything you need to know is here.
British Hairdressing Awards
Last but by no means least is the Schwarzkopf Professional British Colour Techinician of the Year award, part of the British Hairdressing Awards. Submit four images of looks you’ve created using Schwarzkopf Professional products by the 19th of June to be considered. As one of the biggest awards in the industry there are some rules and guidelines including submitting a video, and details of these can be found here.
