TIGI Inspirational Youth 2017 takes place at the Café de Paris in London.
In its 13th year, TIGI Inspirational Youth 2017 show kicked off the London’s Café de Paris.
This year’s team included 9 young hairdressers selected from salons across the UK and Ireland: Aidan Darcy of SugarCubed, Alice Blake Petty of Yazz No1 Hair Studio, Chelsey McQueen of Myka, Christopher Read of Hobbs, Ellie Beth Hancock of Anthony Laban, Evelina Lundgren of Andrew Jose, Grace Morbey of Inkfish, Rita Benedetto of Bad Apple and Sophie Garbutt of Forresters.
Following a week-long intensive training bootcamp, each team member cut and finished a model ready for the finale. Buzzwords such as Punk, Bowie, Cyber and Sci-Fi were on the list of inspiration as each team member demonstrated their understanding of TIGI copyrightcolour.
Anthony Mascolo introduced the show, describing his own career and what inspired him to start the Inspirational Youth initiative, before the evening ended with a presentation by the TIGI International Creative Team recently seen at the Alternative Hair Show.
Anthony said, “I created TIGI Inspirational Youth because I wanted to give young hairdressers the opportunity my brothers gave me, I believe in finding and nurturing tomorrow’s hairdressing stars and inspiring them to push their work to the next level.”
Mentor Akos Bodi, TIGI European Creative Director also commented, “Mentoring the TIGI Inspirational Youth Team is a fulfilling and emotional experience. We fast-track learning and expose them to a variety of experiences to improve their skills, increase their fashion knowledge and, ultimately, to develop a group of individuals into a team. What they gain is invaluable knowledge for their future careers, which is demonstrated by the many success stories of past team members. We are very proud of being part of their success.”
