Global Zoom 2017 hit Barcelona, the buzzing metropolis busting with creativity, art and ingenuity, with thousands of stylists from all over the world.
Over two days they would share in inspiration, excitement, passion, knowledge and celebration as the Global Zoom 2017 Final unfolded. 97 national finalists from 38 different countries competed live in three categories to win a place on the Global Color Zoom Creative Team. Watched, supported and cheered on by almost 3,000 of their fellow stylists, participants demonstrated their creativity, using Goldwell’s IN•FLUX collection as a basis for their own interpretation.
The Gala Show took place in the impressive CCIB Auditorium, with finalists showcasing their model. This was followed by one of the weekend’s highlights, the world premiere of the Goldwell 2018 collection, ELEMENTAL. This collection was created by the winners of last year’s Color Zoom and explores the fusion of technology with the creativity and interplay of rawness and refinement. Tone on tone colours play with contrasts and modern, minimalistic shapes bring a rough, primal edge for future forward styling.
With the Gala Show coming to a close, it was time for the much anticipated announcement of the three Global Winners:
Maxim Sotnikov from Russia in the New Talent Category
Dylan Tung from Singapore in the Creative Category
Mio Sota from the USA in the Partner Category
A special mention goes to the UK’s Caroline Brand from Oracle Hair & Beauty who was awarded Bronze in the Creative Category for her incredible entry. Also, the super talented Lydia Wolfe from Tony Wood Hairdressing took home the Stylists’ Favourite Award in the New Talent Category.
With the awards wrapped up for another year, attention turned to the future, with an exclusive look into the creative developments Goldwell has in store for the months to come. This includes a breakthrough innovation in colour with @Pure Pigments – high definition direct dye additives that elevate hair colour with unprecedented vibrancy and brilliance. KMS also shared an exciting update to its latest Genderless Grooming campaign which will feature three new hybrid finishing products. The latest update to be unveiled was Kerasilk Style, a whole new category of luxury styling products to expand the Kerasilk portfolio.
With the Farewell Party wrapping up another successful year at three of Barcelona’s hippest beach clubs – Carpe Diem, Opium and Shuko, we look forward to next year’s competition in Toronto, Canada!!
