S/S COLOUR TRENDS

The slightest hints of light in the evenings and thoughts of summer escapes can only mean that the Spring/Summer season is afoot. Clients love an excuse to switch up their look and the change in weather is definitely one of them!

So here are our favourite Spring/Summer colour trends to get you in the mood.

Pantone sent colourists everywhere into a frenzy announcing Greenery as its Colour of 2017…making it more than acceptable to use the colour green for the whole year on your clients! Go bold, go subtle with brunettes or blondes, and use it while you can!

The weather might be (hopefully) warming up but frosty feels are still very much a part of colour trends for the coming seasons. Take it as far as you want to because these bold clients want to be as cool as they come.

Rose gold has been around for a while now and it’s really not going anywhere. You can definitely experiment with blocks of rose gold in brunettes or adding hints of pink throughout. This season is definitely about pushing boundaries so don’t stop experimenting.

Always a staple in a colourist’s palette; brunette is always in fashion. Go flat, add hidden streaks of colour, contour and blend to your heart’s content. There is no right or wrong… brunettes don’t have to just be global applications.

Clients who love their red are either eternal redheads or just stick around for those autumnal vibes. Not this year! A touch of red can creep into almost any colour. By a touch we mean all over auburns or slithers of pillar box; either way it’s breaking the mould.

We’ve seen mermaid, we’ve seen unicorn, now imagine all those colours pastelised. This trend is for the almost feint hearted – maybe not brave enough to go full on fierce but confident enough to go for the softer approach. Pick a colour, make it pastel, blend it, block it and definitely rock it.

Don’t be surprised if you get the odd client or two wanting to go the fiercest of fierce with their colour. No colour is too big, no shine is too bright. Just don’t forget to make sure your client snaps a selfie for your social media!
