The Year of the Vivid Artist

INNOluxe Sponsored Stylist Charlotte McKenna talks all things vivid in her latest colour column.

Happy new year to everyone. Wow what a beginning to the new year. 2018 is kicking off.

This will be the year of the UK Vivid artist. We saw a big rise in vivid colours taking over the UK in 2017. And this year is set to be bigger and better. With more colour ranges to choose from and more education.

This years trends are going to be bright! First things first, Pantone have named Ultra Violet as their colour of 2018. Be ready to see it everywhere. What's your favourite purple? Manic Panic actually do a colour called Ultra Violet and its a beautiful shade of purple with underlying blues.

Carrying on from the end of 2017, we will see Copper still going strong. Going bigger and brighter.
Introduce your client to copper in a subtle way by toning their balayage with a vivid copper toner at the back wash, so they can get the feel for the warmer tones before making the big jump to full on bright.

Guy Tangs new range has hit Salon Services. Have you tried it yet? I cant wait to get my hands on some #BIG9 Creme Lightener for my vivid makeovers.

Another exciting new range just out is Wella Professionals' new Colour Fresh Create. I was lucky enough to get my hands on some and have a play. The new colours are available from Salon Services, come in 60ml tubes and are £10.68 inc VAT. A little expensive for such a small tube but the colours are very concentrated and deep so they can be mixed with clear or conditioner for lighter and brighter tones. The tubes actually do go further than you'd think!

I tried the colours on my model. Here I mixed them with conditioner and they applied very well with minimal staining to the skin and when washing out in cold water the water only had a faint stain to it as i washed it off.

I'm looking forward to using more of Wella Professionals'  Colour Fresh Create range on my future clients.

Hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year,
